In 2018, Briana completed her Dolores costume from Westworld. We visited Old Town during Comic Con because of the parking ease and the photo opps. It's the perfect backdrop for any western cosplay, after all! Upon taking these photos, we learned that one of the largest, most beautiful and historic buildings, The Cosmopolitan, it actually a hotel! So, for Comic Con 2019, we made it our mission to stay there.

With antique furnishings, breakfast offerings, large bathtubs and balconies, this hotel has everything we love! But with our stay being centered around Comic Con, we really didn't get much of an opportunity to enjoy the hotel.

This is why we were so excited and grateful to be invited back to enjoy the hotel in April of 2020. We all know why that didn't work out. Cut to Halloween! Now, we had also heard stories of the Cosmopolitan being haunted and as folks with an interest in the paranormal, we thought this would be an incredible time to pay a visit.

Things in the time of Covid are a little different at the hotel, as everyone wants to feel safe right now. The doors are closed to the public, including the entire first floor. When you arrive, you contact Dee, the manager to check you in.

The restaurant is currently closed. Which is a bummer because it's a delicious restaurant with great food and drinks, and the hustle and bustle in the courtyard just brings the hotel to life! However, during Halloween, it provided a perfectly quiet and relaxing stay. And there's peace of mind knowing that safety precautions are being taken. The staff at the Cosmopolitan are quick to redirect you to the Fiesta De Reyes, a restaurant spitting distance from the hotel that shares ownership. We ate their our first night in after taking some SUPER cute Disneybound photos and super spooky Halloweeny photos with Madeline Barr Photography.

The second biggest thing you notice about COVID safety at the Cosmo is something I haven't seen from other hotels yet, but I LOVED it! After a cleaning between guests, the rooms are also sanitized, and a bright green sticker with the date written on it is placed over the key hole. That way you know nobody has been in the room after the sanitization.

Housekeeping is minimized to checking in to see if you would like more towel or fresh ice and the continental breakfast that was once buffet style, is now served with a white-linen service outside your door. If there's one thing I need you to know about us, it's that we LOVE coffee on a balcony. Watching the quiet world go by in the morning or afternoon with a mug or glass in your hand it just so relaxing!

That's right, each morning, muffins, apples, yogurt, and coffee were placed at a table outside of our room, just waiting for us to come and enjoy them. I Genuinely cannot put into words how wonderful that was.

The days in Old Town San Diego can be spend doing three of my favorite things- shopping, exploring, and EATING! If you like Mexican food, you are in LUCK! There is absolutely no shortage here! All of the restaurants in that area are so good, you truly cannot go wrong.

So if you're looking for an amazingly relaxing spot to unwind and enjoy good food any time of year, as you watch the world go by- you HAVE to check out The Old Town Cosmopolitan. And if you have been and have any fun paranormal experiences, please send them to me! I'd love to read them!

Thanks to Old Town Cosmopolitan Hotel for hosting our stay.
